Roundup 4/8/11

Against the advice from our friends, family and extended family, the No Cover Band has accepted more gigs than we most likely can handle in 2011.  We aren’t broken but the cracks are starting to show.  Come check us out before we completely break down.

We will be at the Roundup on 4/8.  All of you local yokels, townies, members of the No Cover Nation and Roundup season ticket holders will receive free admission to the Roundup, back stage passes and have unlimited access to all the drinks you pay for…

We have some surprisingly cool gigs lined up for 2011.  We will open for Zoo Station as well as one of our heroes Paul Collins from the Nerves and Paul Collins Band.  For info on the 2011 World Tour hit the link below.

Hope to see you amongst ‘um…

Bulla Bulla!!!

The bar night for the class of 1980 reunion is scheduled for 9/24 at the Roundup Saloon.

As previously stated, the social chairmen for the class of 1980, Mr. Page and Mr. Black, are either true visionaries or have exhibited an extraordinary lack of judgment in asking the No Cover Band to play this event.  We will need to review the police blotters on 9/25 to determine if their choice of entertainment was a good decision.

Given the enormous size of the No Cover Nation and the number of out of town guests confirmed for the reunion, the Roundup has secured a permit form the City of Lafayette to fence off the parking lot in order to accommodate the anticipated crowd.  (I am not popping off.  OK, I am popping off about the size of the No Cover Nation, but not about the permit the Roundup secured.)

For anyone who grew up in the East Bay and went to High School in the early 80’s, this will prove to be one of the largest concentrations of people from your past gathered in one area.  If you have not done so already, make plans to secure a hotel room or couch, play your get out of jail cards with your significant other and purchase ample amounts of Advill so you can enjoy what should be an evening to remember.

As Members of the No Cover Nation you will receive free admission to the Roundup, back stage passes and have unlimited access to all the drinks you pay for…

All joking aside, we guarantee that it will be the greatest night of your life.  Ok, maybe not the greatest night of your life, but there is a high probability that at least twice you will laugh hard enough where beer comes out your nose.

Looking forward to seeing you amongst ‘em on 9/24.

August 20th gig Canceled

The 8/24 gig at the Roundup is canceled for the usual reasons.  Save your energy, get out jail cards and cab fare for the Acalanes Class of 1980 reunion on 9/24.

Canceled Dates/New ones...

Due to an extended business trip in Rwanda and perpetual pneumonia, the No Cover Band will be forced to cancel the 5/5 gig at St. Mary’s College and the 5/8 gig at the Roundup.

We will return to the Roundup to subject the masses to hearing loss, temporary loss of their moral compass and a guaranteed good time on the dates listed below:

June 18th

August 20th

September the 24th

Of special note, the 9/24 gig is the Acalanes Class of 1980 reunion. This is the “bar night” that takes place the night before the real reunion.  We are really looking forward to this one….

We suggest that you mark this one down in your calendars, secure a baby sitter and prepare for an outstanding evening.

Roundup Saloon 3/12/10

The No Cover Band will kick off its 2010 World Tour at the Roundup Saloon on Friday March the 12th from 9PM to 2AM.

For those not in the know, the Roundup is a classic dive bar located in the comfy confines of Lafayette. The Roundup draws an odd crowd comprised of college students, local nightly tavern dwellers, socce...r mom’s and dad’s as well as over achieving blue hairs from Petars. These events have traditionally been a lot of fun in that it serves as an informal reunion for High School and College friends, family and extended family.

As always, all Facebook Friends, Members of the “No Cover Nation”, actual friends and family will receive free admission to the Roundup, a VIP backstage pass and access to all the alcohol you are willing to pay for.

All joking aside, we would love to see you come out and be amongst ‘um on the 12th.

No Cover Dates for 2010

Against our better judgment, the No Cover Band has decided to continue playing in 2010.  We are approaching our expiration date, so come see us before we pack it in. Here is what we have booked thus far for 2010…

Roundup Saloon on 3/12

This is a Friday night.  We will go on around 9 and end between 1 and 2AM.

Saint Mary’s Cinco de Mayo Festival on 5/5

We will go on a 12:30 and play for about an hour and a half.  Playing in the middle of the day is odd for us, however it beats going to work.

Roundup Saloon on 5/8

This will be a Saturday Night. We will go on around 9 and end between 1 and 2AM.

The Acalanes Class of 1980 30 Year Reunion-9/24

The social chairmen for the class of 1980, Mr. Paige and Mr. Black, are either true visionaries or have exhibited an extraordinary lack of judgment in asking the No Cover Band to play this event.  We will need to review the police blotters on 9/25 to determine if their choice of entertainment was a good decision.  This is the “bar night” that takes place the night before the real reunion.  We are really looking forward to this one….

As always, all Facebook Friends, Members of the “No Cover Nation”, actual friends and family will receive free admission to the Roundup, a VIP backstage pass and access to all the alcohol you are willing to pay for.

All joking aside, we guarantee that if you come to the Roundup on 3/12, it will be the greatest night of your life.  Ok, maybe not the greatest night of your life, but there is a high probability that at least twice you will laugh hard enough where beer comes out your nose.

I am not really sure how this happened, but the No Cover Band is "The Coolest Band in the World this Week" on fuzztopia.com, a site run by little Steven of the East Street Band. I am quite sure that this won't last for long, so check it out here, http://beta.fuzztopia.com befor they come to their senses and take us off their site.

For those of you already making Holiday plans, we will be back at the Roundup on 12/18. We will alert the major media outlets next week. More to follow....

When to say when…Maybe in 2010…

In the Spirit of not knowing when to say when and against the advice of friends, family, the local police and our good friends at H.E.A.R (http://www.hearnet.com/), the No Cover Band has accepted an offer from the Roundup Saloon to perform at their fine establishment on March the 20th.

The fundamentals of the No Cover Band are Strong

We are still of the belief that the fundamentals of the No Cover Band are strong.  We hope to avoid causing the largest one day hearing loss ever experienced in the history of the Roundup at our show on October the 10th.  As always, we would love to see you and guarantee a good time as well as few yucks..

For directions to the Round up go to www.nocoverband.com .

Catfish Jack Chauvin, (our harmonica player), is getting in write in votes for President.  No joke, this news clip is for real.  www.nocoverband.com/Catfish_Jack_for_Pres_.html  This all took place at a small radio station in Philo, CA and has been gaining steam over the past few weeks.

Winner of this month’s poster contest was Eddie Halealoha Ayau.  His poster submission titled “The turtles ‘round Molokai howl, because they understand…..” was the runaway winner for the month of October.    nocoverband.com/Roundup_Poster_Winner.html  Eddie wins free admission for himself and 12 of his closest friends as well as all of the drinks he is willing to pay for at the Roundup on 10/10.

Lastly, the No Cover band preformed Born to Run with Bruce Springsteen and the East Street Band at the HP pavilion last April. nocoverband.com/Springsteen_sings_w__NCB.htm  We hope Bruce will find time to come to the Roundup on 10/10 so we can return the favor….

We hope to see you soon
